On the day before this momentous occasion honoring the chocolate hazelnut spread, Tilted Torch, DC’s premier variety show, returns to the Red Palace with a sinfully sweet production. Sweet Things features the sumptuous and luscious burlesque of Amber Ray (NYC); veritable variety by Malibu (DC); bountiful burlesque and hooping by the anatomic bombshell, Miss Joule (DC); the burlesque debut of Baltimore’s tiniest criminal, Ruby Rockafella; crazy antics by the comedic story-telling duo Sidetracked (Philadelphia); delightful musical musings of the Sweater Set (DC); femme-cee extraordinaire, Shortstaxx (DC); and the cherry on top, stage kitten Blanca Chingamiga (DC). Lectures by Amber Ray

Tilted Torch is bringing Amber Ray down from NYC for both Sweet Things and two lectures on Saturday, February 4th! Come learn from one of the most sought after burlesque dancers in NYC! Amber is offering two lectures. Register for one or both! Bring a pen and paper with you as there is sure to be much to remember!

Lecture 1, 1:00-2:00 pm: Costume Crush

Amber Ray's secrets to making Opulent & visual Magic. Topics will include:
*Costume development, the process of creation
*How to make different types of headdresses
*Different types of glues and when to use them
*How to fix damage: stains, rips the joys of sneaky embellishments
*Embellishments: types, layering techniques, etc.
*How to make things on a budget
*Dyeing, tea staining, different types of dye, tricks to dyeing

*Swap parties, thrift shopping and calling out for materials
*Having fun with friends and helping each other create

Lecture 2, 2:30-3:30 pm: Dare to Dream, Dare to Dazzle

This is Amber Ray's "Inspiration for Artists" lecture on her philosophy and methods and how these elements built her international career/persona. You will get insider knowledge and methods for organizing your inspirations so you are ready to take action on your dreams with management of life's variables, strengthening your will and focus on your development in a variety of practical and creative ways. Amber Ray will discuss the common battles and obstacles she was up against both internally and externally and gives her personal development methods including tips on networking, tricks and tactics to overcome the challenges life presents.
